1st Thursdays: Art of Love, Love of Art
February 6th - 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Orlando Museum of Art
This year, the Orlando Museum of Art is celebrating their 90th anniversary with special 1st Thursday events. Orlando Museum of Art's 1st Thursdays is an award winning monthly event with a unique theme, featured artists, live music, presentations, appetizers from local restaurants, and a cash bar with wine, beer, and soda.
This month's event is entitled "Art of Love, Love of Art" and will feature works of art inspired by a multifaceted glimpse into the perception of love through artists’ eyes. Listen to music provided by Dr. Otto, a jazz musician in the Orlando community. Food will be provided by the Bohemian Baker, an Orlando catering company that serves fresh food baked from scratch, with light ingredients that don't use heavy dyes or sugars. Guests will be able to enjoy artistic demonstrations by Steve Piscitelli and chocolate sculpting by Paul Joachim, an International Celebrity Chef and Food Network Challenge Winner. There will also be video clips from the Florida Film Festival.
At 1st Thursday, guests will also have an opportunity to learn about the Red Chair Project and the Florida Artists Registry in Orlando. There will be information on the the 23rd Florida Film Festival presented by the Enzian Theater, and info about the Orlando Ballet. Visitors will also be able to delight in henna art by Billie, and have custom and personalized love poetry written just for you by writer Elaine Person. To finish, take advantage of a complimentary event photo strip by SNAP! Studio Booth.
Attendees will vote on their favorite piece of art, and at the end of the night, see which work takes home the prize.
$10 admission price includes access to some of the museum's exhibits.
Parking is free at Loch Haven Park and at the Orlando Science Center parking garage.
