LeakyCon

LeakyCon is a convention set up by staffers from the Harry Potter newsite and blog, The Leaky Cauldron. The convention features entertainment, special guests, art, cosplay, and sporting events for fans of the Harry Potter franchise and other popular sci-fi and fantasy works like Doctor Who, Star Wars, the Hunger Games and Sherlock. Essentially, LeakyCon is a gathering of fantasy and fiction nerds looking to experience their favorite TV shows, movies and books with other fans.

LeakyCon begins with an exciting opening ceremony. Throughout the weekend, guests can enjoy live music provided by wizard rock bands, including Harry & the Potters. LeakyCon guests will see actors, creators, and YouTube sensations from A Very Potter Musical, Harry Potter, Emma Approved, and more. Sit in on panels to get a behind scenes look at your favorite creative projects, including the Harry Potter books and movies. Authors and writers will also be present, including Holly Black, writer of The Spiderwick Chronicles, Scott Westerfeld, author of Uglies series, and Laurie Halse Anderson, who wrote the young adult novel you probably read as part of your middle school or high school curriculum, Speak.

Guests to LeakyCon will be staying at 3 nearby hotels with pricing from $110–$135 per night. The Rosen Plaza Hotel and Rosen Centre Hotel are both connected to the convention center by skybridges.

Guests are invited to put on their best costumed finery and take cosplay to the next level at LeakyCon. While at the conference, cosplay participants can recreate a 10–25 second scene from their favorite story, stories, or mix thereof, and submit them to LeakyCon.

Different ticket packages are available depending on the kind of LeakyCon experience you want. Tickets range from $125–$375.

LeakyCon will be held at the Orange County Convention Center on I-Drive from Wednesday, July 30, 2014 to Sunday, August 3, 2014.
