  • The Peanut Butter Matinee Family Film Series occurs on the fourth Sunday of the month at the Enzian Theater. It is always a family-friendly event and it only costs $5 per person. A special Kid’s Menu is offered during the movie showing, and a new film is featured each month.

The movie for March is Matilda. The film tells the story of heroine Matilda Wormwood, a precocious, fiercely intelligent little girl whose parents (Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman) neglect her when they are not insulting her. She finally convinces them to send her to school, but winds up at the Crunchem Hall, a Draconian institution, with the monstrous, headmistress Miss Trunchbull. Matilda only finds redemption in saintly teacher Miss Honey (Embeth Davidtz), who is amazed when she displays not only genius-like smarts, but telekinetic powers as well. With Miss Honey’s help, Matilda fights the battle between good and evil, nice and nasty, smart and dumb in this wildly self-empowerment fantasy for kids that Roger Ebert called, “Heartfelt, sincere, and funny, too.”The film is based on the story book by Roald Dahl, and stars Mara Wilson. It's directed by Danny DeVito, is 102 minutes long, and is rated PG.
