-
The 23nd Annual Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival takes place May 14th-27th 2014 in Orlando’s Loch Haven Park, the arts district of Central Florida. The philoshopy of the Orlando Fringe Festival is simple: 100% uncensored, 100% unjuried, 100% accesible, and 100% of the money from ticket sales go directly to the artists.
Orlando Fringe aims to provide an accessible, affordable outlet that draws diverse elements of the community together and inspires creative experiences through the arts. Fringe is a festival of theatrical and performing arts. The Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival takes place over the course of the thirteen days leading up to Memorial Day. Frequently referred to as “the premier springtime cultural event in Central Florida”, The Orlando Fringe Festival encompasses roughly 500 uncensored and non-juried performances each year, a lively outdoor stage and infamous BEER TENT, Visual Fringe and Kids Fringe!
Acts visit the Fringe festival from all over the country and world, with performers traveling from New York City, Denver, Portland, and even as far as Alberton, South Africa. There are also many local acts from the Central Florida region: Winter Park, Casselberry, Maitland, Orlando, and more. Fringe events include comedians, storytellers, educational lectures, musicals, variety shows, theatre, dance, improv, and more.
Kids Fringe is a special part of the Orlando Fringe Festival just for kids and families. Located for the second year in a row in the beautiful sculpture gardens of the Mennello Museum of American Art, Kids Fringe offers performances by Fringe artists, classes, art activities and more. Kids Fringe is FREE to all participants and runs 10 a.m.–4 p.m. both weekends of the festival.
Visual Fringe consists of uncensored and un-juried visual art. The main focus of the Visual Fringe is to allow an outlet for artists to push beyond their usual medium, subject matter and comfort zone to bring true uniqueness to this exhibition and foster the celebration of creativity. Visual Fringer will be set up at the Orlando Museum of Art, and open 4 p.m.–8 p.m.
The 2014 23nd Annual Orlando Fringe Theatre Festival will be held in Loch Haven Park in North Orange.
