The Denver Nuggets began as the Denver Rockets in 1967. When they joined the NBA, their name was changed because the Rockets was already chosen by Houston, and they also wanted to pay tribute to the original Denver Nuggets basketball team from 1948. The Denver Nuggets was the first team Dikembe Mutombo played on, and also where Carmelo Anthony played for eight years. The Denver Nuggets have seven division titles, their most recent one earned in 2010. Coach Brian Shaw brings to the Amway Center top players Kenneth Faried, Danilo Gallinari, and Ty Lawson.
