  • Every second Saturday of the month, the Orlando Public Library downtown hosts their Second Saturday event featuring fun activities and entertainment for families. It's sponsored by Friends of the Library and is great for all ages. Friends of the Library is an advocacy group looking to improve available educational opportunities and services at libraries by planning special events that bring the community together.

    Activities at Second Saturday include historical presentations, stories, guest speakers, and educational fun. The program is free and presentations change from month to month. Some former topics including cooking tips presented by a chef and author, history on presidents in Florida, and discussions on local service groups.

    Celebrate National Poetry Month at your local library by attending a local poet showcase. Hear readings from local poets J. Bradley, Teresa Edmond, Peter Gordon, Leslie C. Halpern, Carlton Johnson, Oral Nussbaum, Terry Ann Thaxton, and Chaz Yorick. Poets will be available after readings for book signings and to answer questions.
