  • Profile Overview

The West Orange Trail is a path built on an old railway track that runs across metro Orlando. The trail is currently in the process of being developed with part of it completed and open to the public. When development on the trail is finished, it will be 36 miles. The completed portion of the trail runs from the Killarney Station on Old State Road 50, to Welch Road in Apopka. There are ten stations, outposts, nature preserves, and parks along the way that allow access and parking. The path is paved so that anyone can enjoy the sights: skateboarders, roller bladers, bikers, parents with strollers, and more. Ten miles of the trail are for equestrians. Trails are marked at each half mile so that hikers can track their location and report it if an emergency arises.

The trail opens at sunrise and closes at sunset. There are restrooms along the way, and part of the trail even goes through Plant Street in Winter Garden. This gives trail-goers an opportunity to take a break to enjoy some shopping, dining, or other leisurely activities.

Always carry identification on the trail, and stay to the right except when passing.
