  • The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra will have their opening night for the 2013-2014 musical season. The concert will feature conductor Christopher Wilkins and pianist Jon Kimura Parker. Jon Kimura Parker is an internationally recognized pianist who has performed with the New York Philharmonic, and has played concerts in major cities across the world including London, Budapest, Munich, Sydney, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.

    The first featured piece will be Nelson's "Savannah River Holiday," an American tune written in the 1950s. Next, Jon Kimura Parker will play Mozart's "Piano Concerto No. 20" consisting of 3 movements. The season opener will conclude with a performance of Strauss' "Ein Heldenleben" translated as "A Hero's Life" which compares in style to the works of Beethoven.

    This concert is being sponsored by Darden Restaurants Foundation, The Friends of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and FAIRWINDS Credit Union, as well as Walt Disney World Resort.
