Winter Park Autumn Art Festival
Oct. 12 & 13, 9 am - 5 pm
-
This year marks the 40th Annual Winter Park Autumn Art Festival. The art festival is the only juried show that caters specifically to Florida artists, making it a truly local event. Visitors can browse through displays of independent art, let kids partcipate in free art activities, and enjoy live entertainment.
Categories include ceramics, drawing & graphics, fiber, fine crafts, jewelry, painting, photography, and sculpture. Mark Forman and Lisa Konikow will be the festival judges. Mark is a seasoned artist from Boca Raton, and Lisa is the art director for Ford Arts, Beats & Eats, an annual celebration of artists, musicians and chefs in Detroit.
There will be two workshops available to children ages 5 and up both days of the art festival, from 10 am - 4 pm on Saturday, and from 11 am - 4 pm on Sunday. One workshop will be led by 3-D instructor Paula Davis, who will offer a clay project of a hand built owl that holds little treasures. In the second workshop, 2-D instructor Patricia Byron will show kids how to create a fall scarecrow, using oil pastels, colored markers and pencils.
Merchandise including t-shirts, tote bags, note cards and posters will be available for purchase at the event, and at the Winter Park Welcome Center year-round following the event. This year's poster features the Winter Park's Veteran's Fountain. A portion of the proceeds from these posters will go to Central Florida Veteran's Memorial Park Foundation, and help to create a memorial park near Lake Nona's VA Hospital.
